JPN.CAM is an independent camera index for people who want to understand, compare, discover, or buy a Japanese camera.
The thesis
Every Japanese camera, beautifully documented and easy to discover.
A camera is not only a specification table. It is a model, a production period, a format, a lens decision, a manufacturing story, a set of known problems, and a reason somebody still cares about it.
JPN.CAM turns those relationships into a structured, browseable public index. The visual language is quiet on purpose: the camera image, the model name, the year, and the source trail should stay in front.
The project is independent. It does not represent a former publisher, company, author, or brand associated with this domain’s earlier live-camera history.
How we work
Data first. Context second. Commerce only when useful.
Structured records.
Models, brands, eras, types, collections, prices, relationships, and source records are data — not repeated copy.
Source-bounded claims.
Missing data can stay missing. We do not fill a field just to make a card look complete.
Historical continuity without impersonation.
Valuable live-camera history is kept as a clearly labelled archive layer, with no copied media and no blanket redirects.
